Greetings from the First Baptist Church New Braunfels Ecuador Team!

It has been an exciting first couple of days here in Quito, Ecuador! On Thursday, we went exploring downtown to get better acquainted with the people, culture, and food by walking around and enjoying local restaurants and visiting the Basílica del Voto National.

Y'all, it was delicious! And I couldn't get over our server's smile! It was so kind and warm and it just made our lunch experience so enjoyable![/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="23078" img_size="large"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The very best part of our first two days, however, came Friday afternoon when we got to hang out and love on some of the local kiddos who were all elementary age. We played tag, fútbol and other games in a field next to the Hostal.  It is incredible how quickly a friendship can be made between two people even if they don't speak the same language. Through smiles, and laughter, and just simply learning a name we were able to bring so much joy one another's lives, even if it was just for a few brief hours. A girl that I connected with today was named Anita. We were barely able to speak 3 words to each other but shared so many memories.  When it was time to say "goodbye", she gave me the biggest hug and I knew exactly what she was communicating to me and I felt the same way.  I know our team will miss those kids and we think they will miss us a little too since they tried to prevent us from leaving the Hostal![/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="23080" img_size="large"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

We are praying that our time with these kids will encourage them to come back to that same field in two weeks when the team after us gets the opportunity to spend more time with them and share the good news of Jesus Christ.

God brought so much joy and happiness to our team's hearts today and to think that it was just a small preview of a full week to come!
