Our First Program || Andrew - July 12
This is the chronicle of our first time doing a lesson for kids on this trip. We arrived in the village and found out that, ironically, they were having their “last day of school” celebration. We still had 15-20 kids show up. Considering that most of us have never done kids programs before, the day went pretty well. We focused on how God is our Creator and King and how He is just and merciful. We kicked off with an interactive game and a craft where the kids colored a hacky sack to look like a globe. We tried to link each game, craft, and story with a biblical lesson. Then we acted out the story of Jonah to show that you have to listen to God because He’s in control of everything. Next we had them put together a puzzle to show them that God put the world together with purpose, not that some random chance put it together. We followed that with the story of Noah and had them pick a Jelly Bean out of a bag that had identical bad and good Jelly Beans, so they had a fifty percent chance of getting a good one, to teach them about consequences for their actions. We finished the day with another game and skit to show the kids their need of a Savior, in preparation for other lessons that deal with Jesus as our salvation. Praise the Lord for the wonderful day!! Keep reading for the continuation of these posts.
