64 Voices || Rachel - July 2
Last day at camp. 64 different children who all needed a goodbye hug, multitudes of suitcases and bags everywhere, and then suddenly a strange quiet fell over the camp as 64 voices rode down the mountain in the vans that were to take them home. We finished packing up all the team supplies and our personal bags and then sat outside in the sunshine talking to each other and our translators and just chilling. Our ride finally came and we loaded up and hit the road! It was happy to get back to internet connection and let family and friends know that we were still alive. :-) After dropping off all the team supplies at the home of the family we will be working with next week, we then hit the road to Sibiu!Can I just say that pizza and fries are an amazing meal? After a week of camp food, we were all drooling at the thoughts of ‘real’ food. We quickly scarfed down a couple pizzas and bowls of fries and then topped the delicious meal with gelato. Delicious! While wondering around the square in Sibiu, we discovered that there was a philharmonic concert in the square that night which we all quickly agreed on staying and listening. It was so awesome to listen to the beautiful music playing in a gorgeous old city square. Seeing the American flag on the big screen made my heart sing. Not only is this the 4th of July weekend, I haven’t seen my country or flag for almost three months. Nothing like being away from home to make you appreciate your country, as messed up as it is. Tomorrow starts our weekend to tour the countryside and castles. Who knows? Maybe we will find the perfect castle? Let's go steal a castle!- Rachel
