Covered in paint and glory, Craft Team 2 finished their first day of Global Encounters! I managed to get paint in my hair, under my fingernails, and tattooed into my skin. Our lesson wasn't too tricky -- no matter how perfect we try to be, we will never measure up to God. To demonstrate this, we asked the kids to copy a photograph perfectly. When they failed in that endeavor, we used that to demonstrate our need for Jesus' sacrifice. Sounds simple, right? However, on my first turn teaching, I blanked. I was in the middle of a point, and suddenly I couldn't remember what I was going to say next. In that moment all I could think of was -- "what next?" (Hilariously, I actually turned to my poor translator in a panic and said, "I don't know what to say! What should I say?")Somehow, the lesson was finished and the pictures got painted. And you know what? Next time, after copious amounts of prayer, it was easier. Not perfect, but easier.Turns out that the person who needed the lesson most was me! I quickly learned that I could not be perfect in teaching or anything else. But with God's help, I could communicate the messages that he wants me to -- and have tons of fun at the same time!~Katie
