Playing in the Ocean || Lydia - July 17

This morning we had the privilege of being in a local church. Worshiping the Lord with believers of another language and a different culture is very special. Although we didn’t understand all the words, it was a joy to be surrounded by people who love and serve the same God that we do. The message was a good reminder from Psalm 46:1 that “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” In no way does it mean that we won’t have trouble, but God will be with us and bring us through if we cling to him. After church, we grabbed a quick lunch and headed to the beach. The sun was shining, the sand was hot, and the water was inviting. We played in the water for a while, and then took a break to play some soccer and frisbee on the beach. As I was standing on the beach letting the waves bury my feet in the sand, I was trying to imagine the vastness of the ocean. There was water as far as I could see and it didn’t end there.I once heard an analogy that likened knowing God to playing in the ocean. Just because there’s so much more to the ocean than you will ever be able to experience and explore doesn’t mean that you can’t wade in it, or even cast yourself into the waves and experience the power of it. God is infinitely bigger, greater, more powerful, and more wonderful than we can ever comprehend, but that doesn’t mean we can’t know him; He is infinitely loving and He wants a personal relationship with each one of us. He invites us to know Him and to rest in who He is.I don’t know about you, but I want to go beyond the place where I can reach, beyond the place where I have control, and cast myself wholly at His feet. I want to be swallowed by the waves of His love. I want to trust Him completely and let Him have His way in my life.Chiapas16-0032 Chiapas16-0033 Chiapas16-0034 Chiapas16-0035
