Getting Started in Chiapas || Tyler - July 10 & 11

On July 10th 2016 the Chiapas team all flew out of their separate airports in the US and were headed for the final destination of Chiapas Mexico.Most of the team met up in Atlanta, Georgia, familiarizing themselves with one another and starting to build friendships. I met up with the majority of the team there as well, and began to get to know the people I will be spending the next 3 weeks with. We met up with more of the team in Mexico City, and with our two final members in Chiapas itself.The Lord blessed us with quick and easy access into the country and allowed us to get through security very quickly with only a few minor setbacks. When we all arrived in Chiapas the team took some time to get to know one another and pray, thanking God for safe travels and praising Him for everyone arriving where we needed to.After a small delay at the airport we got in a few taxi’s which drove us to where the vehicles that we will be using over the next few weeks were located. We then began to make our way to our hosts home where we will be spending the next 5 days.The trip to the house included things like road blocks (some of the people are very upset with the government now days, and have been rioting), stopping for food (seeing that this was the majority of the team's first time being out of the country, eating authentic Mexican food was somewhat of a “big deal” to some), and a couple of detours. We arrived at the house late Sunday night (early Monday morning).The majority of the team slept in. We used our first day to stock up on food, spend time in bible devotions, continue to get to know each other, and also explore some of the nearby town. Most of the team stayed at the house and got things organized while myself and the leaders as well as another member and our host went out to run some errands. It was a good experience; we saw little shops, visited an old church, a museum, and talked with some of the people. (We did NOT try any food sold by street vendors, or drink any of the water), etc.During the evening we spent time as a whole team talking about the plans for the week and some of the things that were laid out by our leaders, as well as spending time with the Lord in His word and in prayer.The people here are wonderful, most of them will give you the best of what they have, even on short notice, but they need Jesus.Please continue to pray for us as we seek God’s will while out here, and look to serve Him to the best of our abilities! Pray that He will keep us safe, and bless us with health, and also that He will continue to work in the hearts and minds of the children, and adults we have been working with, and that he will touch the ones that we have yet to come in contact with in a supernatural way, revealing Himself to them.Chiapas16-0001Chiapas16-0002 Chiapas16-0003Chiapas16-0004Chiapas16-0005Chiapas16-0006 Chiapas16-0007
