Ready for Take Off!

After a quick couple of days in Florida, we got our supplies prepped, team members gathered, the Ecuador team members who were joining us turned around with laundry washed; and we were ready to set off!

IMG_6907 IMG_6914  IMG_6964IMG_6958After a few video meetings, it was so great to finally have the whole team together - face-to-face!IMG_6944IMG_6986I am so excited to be helping to coordinate logistics for this photography team alongside of the team leaders: Liz and John. After a few trips together and years of friendship, it's so encouraging and exciting to be together again. The plane ride together was very uplifting, as we swapped stories of what God has been teaching us and changing in us over the past few years; and how He has been preparing us to serve on this team. My heart is so full of gratefulness to the Lord for this opportunity to live His love.IMG_6948After flying, we were picked up by the Summerville's at the Guatemala City airport, and drove 4 hours by van to the city where they live and teach the deaf. Very few people work with the deaf people in Guatemala, and the Summerville's are leading the way in this ministry. It's so incredible to see how God is working through their ministry, and humbling and exciting to be able to partner with them in what they are doing with this forgotten and unloved people group. Truly, Christ has sent us to the "least of these", and we are eager to be Conduits for Him. With the double language barrier (Spanish and Guatemalan Sign), it is even more essential to live in a way that shows unity and love, and we are praying for these things to be evident in our lives and ministry. Please join us in this prayer!IMG_6996IMG_6990The country of Guatemala is beautiful, and we are so excited to finally be here and ready to get this "party started"!-Ashlyn
