Building Relationships || Ashley - July 29
Today our lesson was about working together as the body of Christ, and for our Game Team we did the incredibly hilarious 12-legged race!! It was absolutely hysterical watching as the girls walked perfectly in sync with one another while leaving the boys in the dust, tripping over one another and getting nowhere. Later on in the day we had our renowned water relay races, which sounds like fun and laughter, but let me tell you… it’s INTENSE!! There’s nothing like yelling at children to walk faster, but not TOO fast, and to run alongside them as they carry water balloons in tiny spoons and run around with wet sponges! However, the best part about water day was after the games, because there was a full-blown WATER BALLOON FIGHT! It was each child and each leader to himself!! Water balloons were thrown, and buckets of water were dumped; nobody was left unscathed from the battle.However, as fun as giving lessons and playing games are, that’s not my favorite part of the day… I believe the best part of the day is during down-time, when we get to spend personal quality time with the kids and with each other. There’s something so special about getting to know my teammates, volunteers, translators, and children, and about getting to laugh with them and create memories together. I am so thankful for each person that God has brought here to this camp, and I am thankful for each of these beautiful relationships that God is growing. It’s so awesome to know that these friendships will last far beyond camp!- Ashley
