March 31 - Tim
We skipped over Sunday on our way over the Pacific Ocean. Fifteen hours after departing from LAX, we landed in Guangzhou, China for a 9-hour layover. It was nice to do a little sight-seeing in the city and freshen up at the hotel. We visited a little market, ate lunch, and then headed back to the airport. It has been a struggle with the time change. Some of us have been struggling with the time change, but God is good and has been supplying us with energy!Charity, who is our contact in South Asia, met us at the International Airport. After dropping our bags at the hotel, we were invited for a home-cooked meal at Charity and Aung’s house. Aung is Charity’s husband and both of them were directors for Campus Crusade for Christ in South Asia for over two decades. As we visited and ate, she told us how God had faithfully directed and provided for their family as they sought to obey Christ’s call on their lives. She recounted a story of how God miraculously provided funds for her and her women’s group to travel from village to village and share the gospel. Each month, Charity meets with the leaders of the churches from multiple denominations throughout the city of Yangon to pray for their country. From what we know of so far, they head up an Evangelical Bible school, and partner with an orphanage and with many other key leaders across South Asia. We have been touched by the generous hospitality and open reception that we have received in this country.I remember meeting Charity about a year ago when our family visited Southeast Asia for a vacation. Now, a year later, and after lots of prayer and preparation, the Lord has opened the door for us to partner with the local believers in what God is doing in South Asia. We are all very excited to be here and are looking forward to what the Lord has in store for us over the next weeks!-Tim
