April 2 – Elyssa

One of my favorite things about GE trips is the relationships that we get to build with our translators. It has been so special to work with every single one of them and to witness their love for the Lord and for his people here. It has also been great to spend time with them outside of the kids' programs and learn more about South Asia and the culture. After an action packed day with the kids, our translators helped us put on  longyis (traditional Burmese clothing) and they took us to see the Shwedagon Pagoda. It is the largest pagoda in South Asia and people travel from all over the world to visit it. As we walked around the terrace, our translators explained some of the history of Buddhist culture and showed us where people come to pray. While the architecture was magnificently beautiful, it was sad to see people worshiping and praying to the many statues of Buddha. This has inspired the entire team to keep praying for this country and for the Christians who are here ministering to those around them. Please continue to pray for the team, our translators, and the people we will be reaching. The Lord is breaking the chains of darkness in this country and bringing hope to the people.Elyssa1493284_10152596542549881_543640629_n
