Ready... Set...
Regroup. Recharge. Refocus. That's what we've done today, preparing ourselves to head out to the Chiapas jungle tomorrow morning for a 5-day expedition of installing water filters and facilitating children's programs.Adrenaline can only take you so far before your energy starts to give out, fatigue starts to set in, and you need Someone beyond yourself to sustain you. Psalm 46:10 was a highlight verse in our group devotion today, reminding us to be still and know that He is God. We acknowledge that without these precious times of individually refocusing our attentions on Jesus, giving every effort to Him and submitting ourselves to His plan for the day, small but devastating traps like fear, distrust, laziness, lack of purpose, and who knows what else will be all the easier to fall prey to.
I thank Jesus for His reminders to me today that my friendship with Him is what will keep me going throughout this entire trip. After all, He's the one that called me to this work, so if I try and do it apart from Him, I KNOW I'll lose focus, get discouraged, and end up missing works of love He had for me to do. That's just my way. But I don't want to miss one opportunity to love with every part of me the people God has for me to love, simply because I chose to be self-centered. It's heart-breaking to realize that I do this very thing on a daily basis. May today be a new beginning...a fresh start...a re-positioning of priorities to align my life with Christ's - humble service to His treasured and precious people.Eden, for the Chiapas Team
