The Love of God || Jennifer - July 6
[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Day four of VBS, and we had more kids than we've had all week! It's been so fun to continue growing the friendships we started with the kids who have been coming all week, and we loved seeing all the new faces today!Through a "Best of the Best" game of Rock, Paper, Scissors Olympics, Christina taught that we are not defined by success or power, but rather by our identity in Christ.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="23093" img_size="large" alignment="center"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Sam's game involved a treasure hunt where kids searched for hidden beans and exchanged them for skittles, illustrating the parable of the treasure hidden in the field. Christ is our ultimate treasure.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="23100" img_size="large" alignment="center"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]MeChelle had the kids help act out a story of two orphan brothers who were each adopted by different families. The older brother told his younger brother that he would get a job one day and help them be a family together again. But the younger brother grew angry over time and fell in with a bad group of friends. By the time the older brother came back to unite the two of them, the younger brother rejected his brother and chose to remain in his sinful life. We all have a choice to make, and Jesus wants us with Him.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="23094" img_size="large" alignment="center"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]In my craft rotation, we decorated cups to remember that Jesus drank the cup of God's wrath that we deserved, and we must come to God to be filled with His love. It was so fun hearing them shout out "Dios mi ama!" (Jesus loves me!), and I taught the cup game to the older boys.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="23095" img_size="large" alignment="center"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Micah and Liz showed the kids that God has more thoughts about us than the sand on the seashore, that's how much he loves us. So they glued sand and shells around a beautiful seascape photo.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="23096" img_size="large" alignment="center"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Brian and Micah surprised Liz by playing two Bucky's in our Bucky skit. As if one trouble-maker in the play wasn't enough.Bucky disrupts his entire class and makes many enemies, including whiney Maggie, diva Suzie, and brainy Joey.Joey has been learning about loving his enemies and tries to make friends with Bucky. He helps Bucky with his science project, but Bucky trashes Joey's project and gets the A that Joey deserved. Joey shares his favorite pet snake with Bucky, who proceeds to terrorize the class with it and gets Joey sent to the principal's office for bringing the snake to school. Joey overhears a bully planning to beat Bucky up for stealing his candy. Joey gives the bully his own candy to save Bucky, but the bully just beats Joey up instead. Then when two bullies are chasing Bucky, Joey intercedes and gets beat up himself so Bucky can escape.Bucky then realizes Joey isn't so bad and decides he wants to be Joey's friend after all. They become the best of friends and teach each other many different things. Many years later, Bucky becomes the President and honors Joey as a world-renowned scientist. It was a blast to get into the story, and the children really enjoyed it. It was especially chaotic and hilarious with two Buckys.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="23097" img_size="large" alignment="center"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]It was a lot of fun bonding with our translator friends over lunch as we discussed our favorite movies. This afternoon we went to a school to put on a VBS program for more children. Liz taught them two songs, and they rotated to play games and hear MeChelle's story. It was a lot of fun meeting new kids, and we'll go back tomorrow afternoon.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="23099" img_size="large" alignment="center"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]It's hard to believe we only have one full day left. We're all going to miss these kids and will savor each moment of our last day with them tomorrow![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
