Weekend Adventures || Sarah - July 16 & 17
Saturday morning we taught a group of kids in Otavalo. Unlike the kids from the beginning of the week, they did not seem interested in learning English nor were they as affectionate. However, they loved doing crafts and games with us. After this we went to the market in Otovalo. Every stall seems to have the same items, but everything is so pretty that I want it all. After the market we went on a small hike to a waterfall. The waterfall was amazing and almost all of us got in.The next day (Sunday) was mainly travel. We had a seven hour bus trip to Esmeraldas. Volleyball and a beach walk closed down our day and then we rested to get ready for another week of kids programs. The biggest thing God has been teaching me this week is that nothing is ours. Every single thing we have, even time, moments, and situations, is given to us by God. No matter how much we prepare for our lessons or how many games or crafts we have for the kids, it will all mean nothing if the Holy Spirit is not working through us and touching the kids lives. The most important thing is to seek God and His will; this trip has taught me more about this and has prompted me to rely on God more and more every day.- Sarah M
