Lessons from Soccer || John - July 26
We were sitting in the chapel doing a paper craft with the kids. As each rotation came in I worried about what I would teach about, what words or illustration can teach about God’s justice and laws. As the kids were sitting around listening, I talked about how a soccer game has rules, much like God has rules for us. God reminded me again of how He will give us words to say and work through our efforts. This week would never have happened without God.Later that day each of the teams assembled for the soccer games. Every game felt intense as all the leaders cheered for our kids: every shot that nearly missed, made it, and every time the ball was kicked around a barricade of feet standing in front of our goal box. We saw our team Morado (purple) score, play defense, work together, and cheer for other teams even when we were playing them next. Seeing these kids come out of their shells and get excited for soccer, even when they weren’t the ones playing, was one of the best highlights of the day.- John L
