Thinking About My Motivation || Christy - December 31

A few months before this trip, I heard a message on the ultimate motivation in missions. Is our motivation the eternal need of souls? Is it the terror of Hell and separation from God, or the glories of life with Him? Should we be most compelled to share the Gospel as obedience to Christ's command to make disciples? Aren't we instructed to "lay up treasure in Heaven?"

While these are all motivations, they are only part of a whole. The ultimate motivation that envelops all the others is found John 4. Jesus says to the woman at the well:

"But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him." 

This is why Jesus came to earth! This is why He created us--to reveal his worthiness and receive glory and pleasure as we discover him! (Revelation 4:11)

 In Isaiah 40:9, God's servant is told to cry to the cities: "Behold your God!"

On the ultimate mission-trip, Jesus invited mankind to behold His glory (John 1:14, John 14:8-11).

Here in Ecuador as I share the Gospel with children, the Holy Spirit whispers: "Exalt Christ! I desire true worshipers! Worship, magnify me in your spirit and words, as you share the Word of God." This has been the first time I've shared the Gospel with this motivation in mind, and there is a deeper joy in doing so. I've also been convicted of my need to seek and worship the face of Christ.
