After a week of ministry at the church in Quito, we did some fun things to wind down and relax. Friday afternoon we went to a mountain called Teleferico and rode the ski lifts to the top. My ride up was quite interesting as two of my teammates are afraid of heights. So...it was very dramatic and amusing to say the least. Once we were all on the top we walked around for awhile and took pictures. It was really beautiful and we could see all of Quito.Saturday morning we went to the Equator and shopped at the stores around there, and then went to the market. We all began to learn how to bargain for what we were buying. The market was really pretty with tons of colorful scarves, trinkets, hammocks, and much more. Morgan was told that the hammock she wanted was ten dollars, but just for her, he would give it to her for $9.99. We all had fun and bought some really pretty stuff. On Sunday we woke up early and traveled to Otavalo. In a two hour drive the cultures changed so much. We went to church in Otavalo. Even though most of us know very little Spanish it was still a great time of prayer and fellowship with other Christians. Upon our arrival to our cute little hostel where we are staying this week we ate lunch and then all slept for a really long time. We were all pretty worn out. I'm really excited for this next week. I already love Otavalo.- Hannah M.
