CP Ecuador – May 17 || Eddie
Our services are sought after, our patience tested, and we continue to grow spiritually. Except for the fact that our team has only been getting close to five hours of sleep each night, we are having tons of fun hanging out with each other and more importantly with the kids. For the past few days we have been playing games, doing crafts, and teaching lessons at Iglesia Iñaquito and a school in Quito.
On Saturday at Iglesia Iñaquito we hung out with kids ranging from 1st to 6th grade. Hillary, Daniel, and I helped some kids memorize Psalm 119:11, build human towers, and do the limbo. We are all extremely thankful that the translators are patient and that the kids are open to relationships. On Saturday, I was going to explain how we were going to play a game and then out of no where a girl just walked up and hugged me! She hugged me and would not let go! It is so cool to see their love and friendship for everyone. They will come and hug us or even hold our hands. That would probably be one of the most cultural differences in Ecuador, and that there are a lot of people in poverty. You see people sitting in the streets, entertaining at intersections, graffiti everywhere, and a great need for Christ.
For devotions our team has been studying in Genesis about different people of faith. While I have been on this trip I have realized that I need to practice humility, putting my focus on Christ and not focusing on everything that I have done wrong, and practicing not thinking of myself more highly than I ought to. When I said focusing on Christ and not what I have done wrong I mean that when we focus on all of the things that we have done wrong, we go into survival mode by thinking that we have to do good things in order to stay on the right side of God. I realized that I need to remember that Christ has done it all and I am righteous in the sight of God as long as I follow Him and not as long as I am still in the righteous group.
Here are a few things that you can pray for: Daniel is still fighting a cold that he had before he left for the trip and I was sick on Tuesday unable to go with the team boldness to have a relationship with others, and sleep.
Thank you for all of your prayers we can see them being answered every day!
