South Asia – April 1 || Josiah

My story is about Yoe Tha. He is the translator I have for all the games I teach the kids.  I was teaching a game where the kids were on teams and had to work together to transfer all the water from one bucket to the other with cups before the other team did.  The point of the game was God's love. We as Christians are supposed to love one another. Loving others is kind of like pouring water out of a cup.  God loves everyone so much and fills our "cups" with His love. We need to pour out our cups of love to everyone we know. We are called to love others because Christ first loved us!  So I taught this game all afternoon while Yoe Tha translated to the kids.  Yoe Tha learned the game, it's spiritual analogy, and how to teach it while he translated for me. Later that evening, our team traveled to a nearby school and did some games for them.  One of them was the game I had played with Yoe Tha earlier that afternoon.  Tim asked Yoe Tha to teach the kids the game by himself.  He joyfully agreed to do so and taught the game with a lot of enthusiasm!  The way he explained the game to the little kids really hit me because he took the way I had taught  it earlier and taught it the exact same way.  It showed me that what we are teaching is really making a difference because we are showing the translators how to teach to the younger generation!  And they can take that knowledge and use it when we aren't here in their country showing them!  I've enjoyed having Yoe Tha as my translator immensely while I've been teaching games.  He's so helpful and translates everything clearly to the kids.  I've learned from Yoe Tha how to get on the same level with the kids.  Communicating with children from a different culture is difficult. It can be much harder to connect with them than with children of your own culture but Yoe Tha has really helped me break down those cultural barriers and connect with the kids here. It has been such a huge blessing to be able to do that!JosiahIMG_0039 IMG_0042
