[Tuesday 6-21] Road Construction & Awesome Views
Destinations: Maria Morelos, Benito Juarez~Psalm 8~LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory in the heavens. Through the praise of children and infants you have established a stronghold against your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger. When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor. You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their feet: all flocks and herds, and the animals of the wild, the birds in the sky, and the fish in the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas. LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! So after a night at Maria Morelos we woke up to start the day off with a few more water filter installs. But for Amy and Abby it started with being sick so they rested up inside and the team managed to pull off breakfast without Amy’s awesome supervision/skills. (Also without burning the house down or setting each other on fire.)About early afternoon we started packing things up to move on to the next village while some of the team finished up the rest of the filter installs. So after packing up the Yukon and trailer we started heading off to Benito Juarez but quickly found ourselves being stopped and diverted because of construction. That’s great! Except for the fact that the road we needed to be on was blocked and we were diverted to a random jungle road going in the opposite direction. So because of the lack of room to turn around right then and there we started up the road that turned out to be a very beautiful view of God’s creation. About 20 mins of going up in the wrong direction we found a small SMALL spot to turn around and headed back down. After asking the workers how long it would take for our road to be open we headed back to inform the smaller team about our problem.About 2 hours later with both teams in tow the road was finally open and we were on our way to Benito Juarez. Talk about drop dead amazing sights!! No pictures that you may see will do it justice at all! After finally arriving we were greeted with kids who gladly hopped on the side runners to hitch a ride through the village. We soon figured out where we were all staying and we unloaded the trailer with all the gear and prepared for dinner. Beans, salsa, corn tortillas, and eggs were on the menu and left our stomachs satisfied! After that, the normal routine of cleaning up and getting ready for the next day began and soon found ourselves snoozing!-Nicole, for the team
