[Monday 6-13] Construction at the Orphanage
Destinations: San Cristobal, Teopisca/Casa Hogar Canaan Orphanage“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock." Mt. 7:24-25So today we started off with only half of the team because sickness seemed to hit all at once. The Minter brothers, Henry, Abby, Nathan, Grace, Stephen Curry and myself (Nicole) all went to the orphanage to start some working on construction projects. Abby and Grace played with the kids while the rest of us got started on a second house that is being built for the boys. But 10 minutes later Stephen Minter started feeling sick and went to rest in the car. We ended up getting alot of the cutting that needed to be done so that we could finish putting in the attic flooring and walls.
As normal during the rainy season, it later started raining and we had to hurry and cover up our supplies outside and cut the power to the generator. Thankfully we could get still get by with the battery powered handtools. (Even the small circular saw was cordless!! AWESOME!!) About 5 o'clock we started packing to head home for a totally awesome cooked dinner! But on the way back Henry and I started feeling a wee bit sick... yuck! On the bright side the people who were sick this morning were feeling better when we got back! After dinner many of us headed to bed to end our Monday night!!-Nicole, for us all
